Name and Etymology:
"Hatsashen" means something similar to "Breadham" in Armenian, while the previous name, Sabunçu, means "soap maker" in the Turkic Qarapapaq language.

Economy:
The economy of Hatsashen is based on cattle breeding, grain and melon cultivation, and fodder production.

History:
Hatsashen was known as Sabunchi/Sabunçu prior to 1978. The village's Qarapapaq population was deported either in 1906 or in Stalin's 1944 deportations of Meshketian Turks. The village also has a Kurdish population.
