Name and Etymology:
"Hatsashen" means something similar to "Breadham" in Armenian, while the previous name, Sabunçu, means "soap maker" in the Turkic Qarapapaq language.
The economy of Hatsashen is based on cattle breeding, grain and melon cultivation, and fodder production.
Hatsashen was known as Sabunchi/Sabunçu prior to 1978. The village's Qarapapaq population was deported either in 1906 or in Stalin's 1944 deportations of Meshketian Turks. The village also has a Kurdish population.
